Art House, Crouch End - coming soon off Broadway

ARTHOUSE, Crouch End’s unique new cultural venue is set to open at the end of 2013. ARTHOUSE is working in partnership with CURZON CINEMAS (London’s leading art house cinema chain), combining cinema, theatre, dance, music, comedy and its own bar/café. ARTHOUSE offers unlimited opportunities for enjoyment and participation in the arts for Crouch End and beyond - welcoming both local and international productions, cinema and performers.

ARTHOUSE will be a dynamic and versatile local cultural venue, which aims to offer all sections of the community an exciting experience of the arts, including author readings, music, youth workshops, mother and baby performances to live streaming of opera, international theatre and ballet, new theatre and cinema, with midnight screenings accompanied by a bar with a late night license.

ARTHOUSE consists of two state of the art event spaces, a theatre and a cinema, together with a cafe/bar. The theatre will showcase a wide range of live performance from children’s puppet shows to experimental theatre and popular productions, both in house and touring. It also features two cinema screens showing a mix of mainstream, international and foreign films. There will be seasons of work by our own local Crouch End residents, including world class actors, musicians, directors and writers, who will lead performances with Q&A sessions. The café will provide visitors with quality fresh food and snacks from its own ARTHOUSE deli opposite, sourced as far as possible from local food producers and cooks.

ARTHOUSE is a contemporary live performance space that is being created out of the old Salvation Army Hall built in 1910. A team of local architects is designing multi-faceted spaces, beautifully styled with retro interiors, a throwback to vintage Hollywood. The intimate 100 seat theatre space includes a lavish balcony with red plush 1920s theatre seating, and the technology to turn stage into a cutting edge TV recording studio. The clean open spaces have multiple uses, including galleries to exhibit work by local artists.

ARTHOUSE is privately funded and is the collaboration of a creative collective of local Crouch Enders including theatre director Sam Neophytou and actor George Georgiou, with comedy and variety producer Tom Barrie as the Venue Director, and film festival director Nick Walker as Cinema Director. The artistic team are already in talks with international companies to present their work at ARTHOUSE, as well as developing their own projects involving local talent to make sure ARTHOUSE offers a challenging, inspiring and entertaining experience of the arts for Crouch End and beyond.
