St. Cuthbert's - Halsall

St Cuthbert’s Church is an Anglican church in the village of Halsall, in Merseyside, in the Diocese of Liverpool. It is a Grade 1 listed building and the oldest parts of the church date back to the 14th century.

High Level Maintenance were requested to undertake a full inspection of the Church steeple.

This was carried out by erecting steeplejack ladders for the full height of the structure, rigging bosun’s chairs and examining all elevations at close quarters.

As work proceeded, colour digital photographs were taken and a detailed report compiled for the Church PCC.

This resulted in the necessity to erect steeplejack scaffolding to the upper ten metres of the steeple as evidence was found of movement of the masonry in this upper section.

Repairs were undertaken to stabilise the structure with a view to rebuilding the top section in 2013.

Whilst on site, we were requested to fit bird proof netting to all openings and louvres on the steeple to prevent bird nuisance and infestation.
