Opportunities to join our Scotland and Wales Committees Print E-mail
Tuesday, 18 May 2010 09:09

We are recruiting two Member vacancies on our Committee for Scotland and three Member vacancies on our Committee for Wales. Committees take decisions on all requests between £50,000 and £1million and provide a crucial country perspective to the HLF Board on larger grants, targeted initiatives and on regional priorities.

These posts present an exciting and challenging opportunity for individuals with a strong commitment to, and enthusiasm for the UK's diverse heritage.

"Being part of a team that has helped to preserve some of Scotland's outstanding treasures has been nothing short of inspirational.  The many and diverse projects which have benefitted from the HLF all hold a special place in the heart of communities, towns, cities and nation and it is wonderful to know that I have played a part - albeit small - in widening access to our heritage for generations to come.  It has been a privilege to serve as a member of the Scotland Committee and to work with such & and committed colleagues and staff."
(Bridget McConnell, Scotland Committee Member)

“What a rewarding five years! Being able to make some contribution towards maintaining the heritage of my native land, in its broadest possible sense, has been a great privilege.  The professionalism of the staff joined with the independent analysis and local knowledge of fellow committee members has, I sincerely believe, meant that the money available to HLF Wales has been well spent.”
(Eifion Pritchard, Wales Committee Member)

What we are looking for
Our committee members come from varied backgrounds. Some have a professional background in the heritage sector; others for example have a community or voluntary sector background, or experience in economic regeneration, tourism, education or commercial business.  We welcome interest from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences who can show they can apply their skills to, and have enthusiasm for, the position.
