The re-roofing of Oakbrook House

Ecclesiastical & Heritage World Oakbrook HouseOakbrook House is part of Notre Dame high school situated in the Fulwood area of Sheffield. Built in 1860 by Mark Firth Sheffield’s famous steel manufacturer, philanthropist, Lord Mayor and Master Cutler. This mansion became an Officers’ Convalescent Home in the First World War, a convent in 1919 and a Sixth Form Centre in 1988.

This imposing building was re-roofed in part using the original Burlington random slate and made out with reclaimed slate to match. Part of the refurbishment involved the renewal of the leadwork to the parapet gutters and the large flat roof.
